You know what, Spys? I don't offer advice. I hear you. 100%. The tats? Well, I have to admit I want one, too, right shoulder blade, a heart-shaped peace symbol, rainbow colored. Trying my damnest to work up the courage.
Quite honestly, the only time they are ugly is when they can't be covered up and the situation (job, social scene, etc.) demands it.
The ears? I never wanted a piercing there. But I'm not against them. But again, you have to weigh today's desires against what society will think (if you care). I know that if I were a business owner who had to hire people to interface with the public, I'd shy away from extreme piercings, and gauges would fit in that category. Even many desk job hirers shy away from the extremists. Not that they're right, but think about the future.
As to the money? If you want to do that, I do agree with your mom. Save your money. It will give you time to think about whether it's worth it or not. What is really important to spend money on? Piercings? Tats? Dates? College? A car?
I'll never quit being your friend. You can pierce anything, tat anything...you are you, as a person nothing you do short of removing body parts will diminish that in my eyes. But I'd be very careful about permanent alterations that might limit you in the future.
And finally....sorry, gotta be a last word...
What statement do you want to make with your body? That is what you propose. Making a statement. Decide if that is what you want to do, and what that might mean 5-10-15-20 years down the road.
Damn, that turned out to be advice. Sorry, Spys.
And your booboos? Hope they heal without amputations! HAHAHAHA Seriously, hope everything there is OK.
Love ya, big guy!
Peace <3
Jay
hey jay, thats why i wanted the tats where pants would cover them up. and i plan on only having the gauges for a few years, taken them out in my senior year or so. and i know about the money, but the fact that she wouldent support me at all because id be ugly in her eyes is rediculous. shes always said shed help out with college and things and to know that my beauty is what that depends on, what message is she sending me?
and later in life either tattoo removal will improve, ill still like them, i wont care, or itll give me a story to tell.
haha they advice was good though =)
me tooo! its black right now so idk whatll happen
Peace!
You want your ears pierced, AND you want gauges too?
What are "gauges"?
When I think of gauges, I think of ASI's, Altimeters, CDI/OBS combos,or maybe an FGP with a full-on HSI and an AOA indicator on the side. Today's young wippersnappers call 'em "steam gauges". The nerve of them fledgling nuggets. They want nothing but a TFT/EFIS with a GPS PDI and an SV upload.
.... Me..... I'm happy with just your basic Altimeter, ASI, a "ball" {with no "needle"}, and a VSI in either "feet" or "knots".
Of course, one must never forget the Magnetic Compass.
"FIDEM SCIT" {which would make a good left calf - right calf tat..... it's Latin}...."FOGGY"...
OMG... Foggy... LMAO... ;P
Well, you asked my opinion, so here it is- I never liked tattoos. I think they deface a body and have never seen a tattoo make a guy look cuter. Ugly? Hmm... yeah, sometimes, especially when they're everywhere... I find them distracting and like nothing more than the natural look of the human body- I find a clean and neat looking guy a complete turn- on.
But, that's MY taste. My bigotry... lol Yeah, let's face it- the world has plenty of cute guys that aren't wearing tattoos, so I rarely feel cheated... Altho, there was this one guy.... ah, forget it! ;P
Listen, I have a similar thought that Jay expressed- when you look at yourself in a mirror, what do you want to change? Do you think that the tattoos and/or the gauges (OOO, don't get me started on those..lol) would improve your appearance, or make you feel better about yourself? If not, then why would you do it?
Your mom? You already know my answer to that- I NEVER allowed my parents to pay for that kind of thing. Now, I know most kids didn't start working at the age I did, and I wouldn't advocate that for most kids either, but you're definitely old enough to pay for this yourself, Peter, and let's face it- if it's THAT important to you, saving the money for something that you really want will make it even more appreciated when you finally get it.
So, lol, sorry to disappoint you if I have, kid, but that's my take- NOW- what's this stuff about not having enough to post about on your trip?? I've waited patiently for you to get back, wondering if you'd survive you trip in and out of purgatory, and now you're not going to tell us about it?
{sigh} Must I beg? luv, tman<3
I sort of agree with your feelings about your mother's comment. There are better ways to express yourself to your son, but...I suspect it was a knee-jerk reaction to something she simply didn't expect to come out of her perfectly normal, nice, clean cut son!
And I definitely agree with tman; if you want these things, use your money.
Oh, and be careful with the gauges, not all "damage" is totally reversible, the cartilage of the ear is not as apt to shrink back to normal as regular skin is, so it might not be such a good idea.
Peace <3
Jay
Foggy, haha wrong gauges. gauges, or stretched earlobes, are a body modification where you get your ears pierced with an 18 gauge (what most people get their ears pierced with) and overtime "gauge up" to a 16, then 14, so on and so on.
Tman, as you like plain guys, i like guys who are a little more edgy haha. and my parents... i was brought up knowing things like my car and college were going to be paid for by them if possible. if not, i would understand and take it upon myself. i wouldent expect them to pay for things like tattoos or piercings, but i was never told that their support for college would be taken away by making my body a little more attractive in my oppinion.
Jay, to be blunt, thats no excuse in my oppinion. and again, never expected them to help me with these mods. and your completly right, a 00 gauge is the point of no return, which is why i would never want to go above a 4 gauge, which should close up within a few months.
Peace!
Hi there, Spys
Sorry I've come to this one rather late: I was on holiday until last Sunday, and I've been catching up since then.
Like tman, I don't like tattoos or piercings - I far prefer the human body in its natural state. But it's your body: you get to do with it as you please. I would just suggest that you think carefully before doing anything that's not reversible - and I would put tattoos in that category: I don't think the existing removal techniques are very good, and I don't think you can rely on them improving in future either.
Take care
Mark
